OFFICER'S SHAKO OF GRENADIER LA GARDE NATIONALE MODEL 1830, JULY MONARCHY
Made of cardboard covered with taupe felt, height 235 mm, bordered at the top with a 30 mm wide silver galloon woven with silver threads in a pattern known as "lizard", and at the bottom with a 26 mm high black polished leather visor.
Black leather visor.
Tricolor metal cockade, 70 mm in diameter.
Front plate made of silver-plated copper and embossed in relief with a Gallic rooster holding a globe in one claw on a shield-shaped escutcheon decorated on each side with a lion's head; the shield is topped with a flaming grenade in a wreath of oak and laurel, with a bundle of flags on each side. Plate height 140 mm, width 110 mm.
Chinstraps composed of two leather straps covered with black velvet and covered in a descending series of 14 scallops cut in silver-plated copper and scalloped, width near the rosette 37 mm, length approximately 200 mm; each strap is fixed to the shako by a round rosette with an embossed flaming grenade, 40 mm in diameter, made of silver-plated copper with a double tab fixed at the back that folds inside the shako. The mobile scalloped chinstraps are from the early July Monarchy period.
Scarlet woolen flame plume, plume diameter 60 mm, flame height 150 mm.
Interior lining made of black waxed sheepskin cut in wolf's teeth.
