GIBERNE OF GRAND TENUE OF THE 9th REGIMENT OF CHASSEUR À CHEVAL OF THE LINE, First Empire, 1810-1815
Black patent leather box, with framing strip in the shape of a silver bangle. Silver trimmings representing the number 9 of the regiment encased in a hunting horn surrounded by laurel and oak branches.
H: 100mm; Minimum L: 150 mm; Maximum L 160 mm; D 40 mm.
Black leather banner covered with a large silver braid with four black silk borders with four silver trimmings: a medallion with a lion's head, an escutcheon with an imperial eagle, a buckle decorated with a spider's web and a smooth shield.
Perfect condition, close to new. This pouch has never passed into a private collection; it comes directly from the family.
First Empire period.
NOTE :
To my knowledge, only two complete copies of its original banner are known, both were presented on this site (see archives), a third box (alone) is kept in a private collection, illustrated in Michel Pétard's work on the Military equipment Volume IV, figure 373, page 55.
HISTORY:
This regiment completed all the campaigns of the First Empire: Marengo, Alexandria, Reggio, Wagram, Moskowa, Wiasma, Lützen, Bautzen, Dresden, Leipzig, Hanau, Brienne, Montmirail, Reims, Paris, it was also present at Waterloo.
