Reduction of the military medal, engraving by Desire Albert Barre, in silver, hallmark on the bail ring, and enamel, featuring on the obverse side the effigy of the Emperor on a azure background, bordered by a strip with the legend "LOUIS NAPOLEON" and framed by a laurel leaf crown; reverse, central medallion with the inscription "VALOR AND DISCIPLINE" on a smooth background, bordered by a strip.
