POLICE CAP OF THE TROOPS OF THE 1st REGIMENT OF VOLTIGEURS OF THE IMPERIAL GUARD, 1860 "accordion" model, Second Empire. 27735
Main body of the cap in scarlet wool with jonquil piping placed on the vertical seams and in the middle of the sides. These pipings converge on the right side to form a point whose top reaches the bottom of the cap.
Two elliptical side flaps, in dark blue wool, bordered on their convex edges with a braid and jonquil piping; these two pieces are sewn at the bottom of the cap and are connected together at each end by a seam, folding down at will. The flaps are attached to the body at the top by means of a black lacquered metal clasp.
On the front, in the curved angle formed by the recess of the two flaps, a grenade embroidered in jonquil wool is sewn (H 4.4 cm, width 2.7 cm). Fully lined interior in dated ecru canvas "61", marked "2781" and with the regimental stamp of the 1st Voltigeurs Regiment: crown followed by "1st V". Height of the flaps 11.5 cm. Total height 14 cm.
At the top of the front point, woolen pompom with dark blue head of the 1st regiment and jonquil fringes.
