Steel hilt with a four-branch polished iron guard. Cap with a long tail. Grey shagreen-wrapped wooden handle with steel filigree. Steel ferrule decorated with lines. Straight blade with grooves, 86 cm long, signed "Manufre Impale de Châtellerault June 1854", stamped with "S" under a star of F.A. Schütz, second-class controller, 14 February 1854 - 29 June 1872, and "F" under a crown of A.J.P. Fadates de Saint Georges, director from 21 August 1852 to 28 July 1855. Natural buffalo tie. Steel scabbard with two suspension rings and a steel tip.
Black silk sword knot with soft black metal fringes, known as "well ropes."
Black leather belt covered with a 3.6 cm wide green silk golden braid. Gilded brass fittings. Rectangular officer's belt plate for Spahis, measuring 4.2 cm x 4.7 cm, made of smooth gilded brass, decorated with a five-pointed star and a crescent, both encircled by an oak branch and laurel branch. Plate bordered with a molding with flowers and pinnate leaves. Complete with two black leather suspension straps covered with a 1.7 cm wide green silk golden braid, finished with gilded snap hooks.
