CAPTAIN'S "FOULARD" KEPI OF FIREFIGHTERS, Third Republic. 24458-1
Cap, turban made of fine black cloth, black velvet band embroidered at the front with two crossed axes topped by a grenade in gold threads, bullion and sequins, gold rank soutaches, of the model after 1883. Small smooth golden bell buttons, holding the false gold ribbed jugular with the color of the weapon.
Top of the cap adorned with a Hungarian knot in gold soutache with a single strand, typical of subaltern officers.
Black patent leather visor, lined with embossed waxed green calf leather, with a black patent leather strip folded and sewn onto the outer edge. Royal blue silk interior lining. Inner headband in brown leather with a royal blue silk ribbon, gold-stamped with the manufacturer's name "L. RUETTARD / LYON."
