SHAKO LIEUTENANT FIREMAN'S CAP, Second Republic. 24465
Made of leather covered with a fine dark blue, almost black cloth with a royal blue velvet band with an embroidered grenade in gold threads, gilt brass sequins and cannetilles at the front, it is bordered at the top and partially at the bottom of the visor with a flat silver braid trim. At the top, two silver braids indicate the rank of lieutenant; on each side and at the back, a flat braid is attached vertically.
Band height 4.5 cm. Total height of the front of the cap 15 cm, total height of the back of the cap 20 cm. Black lacquered metal cockade sewn at the front, with a silver braid loop and a brass button stamped with two crossed axes surmounted by a flaming bomb and the inscription "SAPEURS-POMPIERS," attached in the center. Black varnished leather top, diameter 14 cm. Rounded black varnished leather visor, waxed green underneath. Inner lining composed of a 3.5 cm high black varnished calf band.

Fair condition, deformations in the leather of the cap, wear and some moth holes, faded braid trim, chipped top of the inner canvas lining missing from the top.
