FIRE HELMET OF THE FIREMEN OF THE CITY OF AIX-EN-PROVENCE, Second Republic. 24160
Entirely made of brass. The base of the bomb is stamped at the front and back with a relief mold. The movable visor is stamped in relief with two crossed axes linked by a ribbon. The neck cover is rimmed with a strip folded over its outer edge. Crest with stamped flanges adorned with fourteen flutes with a mask decorated with a flaming bomb. Black horsehair plume. Front brass plate stamped with a large flaming bomb with the body engraved "AIX", bomb surrounded by two laurel branches over a ribbon bearing the inscription "FIREMEN". Brass chinstraps composed of two round-shaped rosettes stamped with relief flutes, and two brass chin scales mounted on leather. Tube-shaped plume holder with decreasing square section towards the bottom, with a tightening screw at the top.
