FIREFIGHTER SAPPER TROOP HELMET, type 1852, Second Empire. 24219
Made entirely of brass. The base of the bomb is embossed on the front and back with a raised molding. The movable visor is embossed with two crossed axes linked by a ribbon. Neck guard encircled by a bent ring placed across its outer edge. Crest with fins embossed with thirteen flutes and a mask decorated with a flaming bomb. Front plate in brass, 1852 model, embossed with an uncrowned imperial eagle holding in its talons Jupiter's sparking spindle, all against a background of flags and a radiant base. At the bottom, a globe with the word "DEDICATION" and crossed axes, and a ribbon with the inscription "FIREFIGHTERS". Brass chinstraps consisting of two round rosettes embossed with raised flutes, and two leather-lined chinstraps covered with a brass plate embossed with scalloped scales.
