Captain Jean-François COLLIN known as Lambez, 7th Cuirassiers Regiment, 3rd Squadron, 7th Company, is retiring due to seniority. For his vacated position, a proposal is made to appoint Pierre Auguste DELLETAILLE, sergeant major at the said regiment.
On the left: "Proposal", signed by Colonel Offenstein (François-Joseph Baron) and by "the divisional general Espagne, commanding the 3rd cuirassiers division who hastens to endorse Colonel Offenstein's choice in favor of this excellent soldier."
On the right: "Details of services and campaigns of Mr. DELLETAILLE" certified as genuine.
Document signed twice by Colonel and future General Joseph Offenstein (1760-1837) and various officers. Size: 34 cm x 20.5 cm.
Excellent condition, horizontal folds, paper yellowing.
HISTORICAL NOTE:
The 7th cuirassiers regiment (or 7th RC) is a cavalry regiment of the French Army created during the Revolution from the Royal Foreign Cavalry regiment, a French cavalry regiment from the Ancien Régime, under the name 7th Cavalry Regiment before taking its current designation under the First Empire.
It was dissolved in 1962.
