"Certifies to us that citizen LATTES, captain of the 21st Light Infantry Brigade, has served as my aide-de-camp from 1st Vendemiaire year 7 (22 September 1798) to 1st Nivôse year 9 (22 December 1800) with all the zeal and precision that characterize a soldier motivated by love of duty and attachment to his superior who has entrusted him with his confidence."
"I further declare that due to the seniority of his service, his activity, and his wounds, he is entitled to be counted among the officers holding rank. I will maintain in the new work of the Brigade, ensuring the restoration of all his rights hereby granted."

BIOGRAPHY:
LE BLOND DE SAINT-HILAIRE (Louis-Joseph-Vincent)(1766 – 1809)
Born on 4 September 1766 in Ribemont (Aisne), son of a captain of artillery. Died on the field of honor in Vienna (Austria) on 22 May 1809, from the consequences of his injury received at Essling.

To ensure the defense of Provence against the Austrian General Mélas, who had gathered a strong column composed of the mobile national guards of the departments of Var and Bouches-du-Rhône, he led them to the camp of Saint-Laurent. This reinforcement arrived just in time on 15 May 1800 and was very effectively used in the defense of the Var bridgehead, attacked by Austrian troops and by the artillery of several English ships beached at the mouth of the river.
28 May 1800: He contributed to the recapture of Nice.
