Handwritten document. On the front: DISABILITY RETIREMENT WITH PENSION. Letterhead of the "Army of the Rhin, Right Wing / Hussars Seventh Regiment." Absolute disability retirement granted to the hussar of the 6th company Thiébault SILBERMANN, born in the canton of Belfort, department of Haut-Rhin in 1771. Done in the administration council on the 7 messidor year nine of the Republic. Five signatures affixed (brigade chief Warisy, lieutenant Güslez(Güsler?), non-commissioned officer Thomas, captain Briquet) in the frame, and three signatures outside the frame (Army Inspector Monet, commander of Mayence and brigade chief commanding the regiment Warisy). Red wax seal.
On the back: MEDICAL VISIT certificate describing the soldier's injuries. Letterhead "Army of the Rhin / Place de Belfort." "We, chief medical officers of the military hospital of Belfort, pursuant to the law of 2 Thermidor and the Health Committee of the public safety published on the fifth of brumaire of year 3 of the Republic, certify that the citizen Thiebault Silbermann, native of the commune of Bourbach le Bas, district of Belfort... aged 31, soldier of the 7th regiment of hussars...
