DRAGOON BELT model of October 7, 1845, adopted by the regulation of December 20, 1858. 26991

Made of white buffalo leather without any edging or stitching, it consists of a belt band, 6.5 cm wide, with a length of 110 cm for the 1st size. The ends are cut square. The front end, on the strong side of the buffalo leather, is doubled through the opening of a copper chape, where it is secured by a square bar (called a mobile lock) on the chape, allowing the belt band to be lengthened or shortened at will, without any buckle, only by pressing the lock. The end of the band is folded about 2.5 cm and sewn to form a bead that prevents it from slipping out of the chape. The other end of the band is also doubled through the loop of the plate. Near the front end at 25 cm (1st size) is a first loop, 3.5 cm wide and spanning the entire width of the band, sewn inside by two stitches at the top and two at the bottom, with a second loop sewn at 44 cm. It supports the copper D that carries the front loop; it is folded back underneath by about 3 cm after embracing the D, which in its upper part reaches the bottom of the band. This D has a width of 4.5 cm (the regulation stipulates 5 cm) and a height of 2 cm. It is approximately 5 mm thick and carries a saber hook made of the same brass wire. The length of the hook's shank is 4 cm, and the beak is 5 cm. The small loop has a length of 38 cm, a width of 3.2 cm (according to the regulation, 2.5 cm). The large loop has a loop length of 91 cm and a width of 3 cm. At each end, they have two buttonholes located 5 cm apart. Copper double buttons (diameter 1.5 cm) are inserted two by two into these buttonholes to secure the loops to the belt and the saber.
The slightly curved copper plate is embossed with a grenade. It is almost square, with cut corners and edges softened by a chamfer. Towards its right edge, when viewed from the inside, a strong copper loop is soldered, and on the other edge, a clip stamped "DELACHAUSSÉE" is attached to its base, filling the entire length of the loop attached to the other end of the band. Measurements are approximately 7.5 cm in height, 8.5 cm in width, with chamfered angles.
