BRONZE COMMEMORATIVE MEDAL OF KING HENRI IV AND HIS SECOND WIFE MARIE DE MEDICIS, 1604, Strike dating from the Third Republic. 26071
Made of patinated bronze, round shape with a diameter of 5.6 cm. The obverse depicts King Henri IV holding a scepter seated opposite his second wife, Queen Marie de Medici holding a cornucopia, facing each other and holding hands on a flaming altar under clouds and a radiant sky, by Philippe Danfrie, with the inscription "MALESTAS . MAIOR . AB. IGNE. / . 1604" (Majesty greater than fire). The reverse features the bust of the king facing right with the inscription "HENRICVS . IIII. D .G . FRANCORVM. ET. NAVA. REX." The edge is stamped "Bronze," struck at the French Mint after 1880. Beaded framing on both faces.
