Polish saber handle, "Karabela" type, Krzÿstallowicz Turbia-Krzÿsztalowicz, 18th century, around 1780-1790.
Mounting in ivory and gilded bronze. Handle with two large ivory plates, relief-carved in the manner of palmettes, scallop shell, radiating background of cannons and flags, and a knight slaying a dragon, they are adorned with a gilded and silvered bronze decoration with floral motifs, with two riveting buttons assembling the plates in a flower shape and the arms of the Krzÿstallowicz family azure a cross couped argent, lacking the lower right arm under a comital crown. Guard of the type found on oriental-style sabers produced in Europe in relief-decorated bronze with scrolls, foliage, and a flower at the pommel.
Height 16 cm.
