HUNTER OR IMPERIAL GUARD LANCER SABER, first model, First Empire (1804-1810).
Hungarian-style saber entirely in brass, the model of which was created in 1800 by Nicolas Boutet for the Consuls Guard. Hilt with a molded hussar-style guard with one branch, a long solid pommel, straight guard, faceted earpieces; grip made of wood covered with black waxed calf leather filigreed with a double brass wire. Guard branch stamped "VERSAILLES" within an oval "AC" for director A. Chapelle, February 1805 to July 1809 and within another oval "JC" for J. Cazamajou, inspector from 1803 to August 1806 and then from January 1809 to September 1811.
Curved blade with hollow facets stamped with "B" by first-class controller J.G. Bick from February 1809 to August 1824 and "M" under a star by inspector C. Marion, December 1808 - June 1811; flat back signed "Mfture Imple du Klingenthal Coulaux Frères". Length 85.5 cm; width at the heel 3.5 cm. Scarlet wool knot.
Curved scabbard with a wooden section and two suspension rings. Scabbard mouth fitted with a cup. Rectangular shape suspension rings with a domed body and a raised line at the top and bottom; spherical suspension ring mounts; steel suspension rings. In the central part between the two suspension rings, the scabbard is cut with rounded ends revealing the wood covered with leather at this point, it is framed by two brass strips riveted to the scabbard by four brass suspension ring mounts. Steel scabbard tip. Stamps on the scabbard mouth within an oval "AC" for director A. Chapelle, February 1805 to July 1809 and within another oval "JC" for J. Cazamajou, inspector from 1803 to August 1806 and then from January 1809 to September 1811.
