NOTE:
Michel Pétard in his work "Swords and Sabres - Cavalry Troops from Louis XIV to the Empire, Volume 1" mentions for this sabre in sheet 56 S, pages 74 and 75:
"In June 1758, in the midst of the Seven Years War, this regiment sacrifices itself alongside the carabiniers to help free the army mistreated by the Hanoverians. This act of heroism carried out by the two corps would have been rewarded with the privilege for the officers of Flamarens to share this elite sabre with the carabiniers. Light rose brass hilt, gilded, with openwork shell, adorned with a cartouche marked "OFFICIER-DE-FLAMARENS" and surmounted by a fleur-de-lis. The handle is silver-copper filigreed with a stamped braided ferrule. The blued and gilded blades are flat with a back, engraved in the style of the carabiniers, except for the attribution: "OFFICIER DU REGIMENT DES DRAGONS DE FLAMARENS". Some specimens have a very fine fantasy blade, engraved with all-over motifs. The backs of these blades are signed by the swordmakers who worked for the carabiniers: Felix - Caillot - Deshayes. The Flamarens regiment will exchange its name for that of Coigny in 1762."
