MOURNING SWORD FOR CIVILIAN OR MILITARY USE, reign of Louis XV, Old Monarchy, circa 1750-1767. 29065
Iron hilt without decoration. Crossguard with small rings. Two-piece hilt. Handle in ebony finely grooved diagonally with sculpted ferrules. Oval pommel. Double-edged blade with a flat central ridge, length 74 cm.

Very good condition, except for the slightly shortened and oxidized blade, without scabbard.
NOTE:
The former designation of "sergeant's sword" by Bottet in 1910 should be revised thanks to the research of Mr. Chouinard from Montreal and validated by Michel Pétard as: Mourning sword for civilian and military use, reign of Louis XV, Old Monarchy.
