INFANTRY SABER OF A REGIMENT OF FOOT GRENADIERS, KNOWN AS A "BRIQUET", model 1776, Revolution. Item number 28801.

Typical single-piece bronze hilt for this model. One-branch guard. Fluted handle with 19 strands. Curved flat blade, 65.5 cm long, back of the blade likely signed by the Royal Manufacture of Alsace (traces). One side of the blade is engraved with the inscription "GRENADIER" and on the other side with a flaming bomb originally topped with two crossed L's (for Louis XVI) removed during the French Revolution.
