ROMAN-STYLE OFFICER'S SABRE OF THE ROYAL ARTILLERY CORPS, 1775 type, Ancient Monarchy. Item no. 28788
Gilded brass hilt with symmetrical crossguard relief-moulded with garlands of ribbons and foliage, featuring a sacrificial animal head at the center and a fleuron at each end (typical officer's weapon decoration). Handle moulded in the form of an eagle's head, crossed by three brass rivets. Double-edged blade with two hollow sides near the hilt (9.6 cm long), then a central hollow side (27.5 cm long), total blade length 47 cm, width at the hilt 4.2 cm. Blade signed at the hilt on both sides, most likely from the Klingenthal Manufacture (illegible), adorned on each face of the double hollow sides near the hilt with a semé of fleur-de-lis.

Good condition, hilt in very good condition, blade oxidized with the fleur-de-lis still clearly visible, no scabbard.
