OFFICER HELMET OF THE SARNOS FIRE BRIGADE, type 1855, Second Empire. 24473
Made entirely of gilded brass. Crest stamped with eleven decreasing fluting on a sanded background. Front plate embossed with the imperial eagle on a radiating background with a ribbon bearing the inscription "Srs POMPIERS DE SARNOIS." Brass plume holder with a square section decreasing towards the bottom. Visor and neck guard edged with a brass wire and lined with black waxed morocco leather. Chinstraps composed of a leather chin strap covered with fifteen brass scales alternately cut into two and three festoons, they have a sanded background with a smooth outer molding. Each chinstrap is finished with a round relief molded rosette with a central fixing screw to the helmet. Left chinstrap finished with a leather strap, right chinstrap terminated by a brass buckle with a prong. Soft leather chinstrap.
