SWORD OF THE GENDARMES OF THE ROYAL MILITARY HOUSEHOLD, model 1762, Ancient Monarchy (1762-1787). 30084

Mounting in cast and gilt brass with openwork shell, hilt with cover-cap, shell thumb ring and branches, cross guard in the shape of a hockey stick. Grip in wood entirely filigreed in silver. Fittings in stamped metal in braids. Pommel adorned on each side with a palmette. Blade with a back, hollow sides and gutters; it is engraved on both sides in a cartouche "GENDARMES DE LA GARDE DU ROY". Blade length 87.9 cm. Without scabbard.
