NOTE:
In his work "Des sabres et des épées - Troupes à pied de Louis XIV à nos jours," volume 3, Michel Pétard mentions
- in card 82, pages 52-53, "instead of allowing the elite of the infantry regiments disbanded after the War of the Austrian Succession in 1748 to disperse, the king decided in 1749 to create a special regiment 'the Grenadiers of France' with over 2000 men. In line with a flattering uniform, a particular sabre was assigned to them, distinguished from the line grenadiers by the presence in relief under the quillons of the hilt of a grenade and a fleur-de-lis, symbols also appearing on their flags."
- in cards 77-78: "After the creation of grenadier companies in the militia battalions of the kingdom on September 15, 1744, the king established seven regiments of Royal Grenadiers on April 10, 1745. This institution was abolished by the revolution."
