France.
Former Monarchy (around 1680-1734).
Good condition, usual oxidation on the blade with some nicks on the edges, without scabbard.
NOTE:
Michel Pétard in his work "Swords and Sabers - Cavalry Troops from Louis XIV to the Empire", volume 1 (Nantes 1999), in his note n° 6 dedicated to this model (pages 30 and 31), states that "originating from the first regulatory system established under Louis XIV, and also including the infantry sword and the grenadier saber, this cavalry heavy sword is a component of the standardization carried out by Letellier and Louvois. The hilt is revolutionary and disrupts traditional armory practices as it is made of cast brass, allowing for easy mass production at low cost." Blades of 95 or 98 cm were reserved for cavalrymen.
