PAIR OF MUSKETEER PISTOLS OF THE 2nd COMPANY OF THE KING'S MILITARY HOUSEHOLD (Black Musketeers), Restoration Period. 30048

Pistols based on the model of the King's Bodyguards.
Octagonal barrels transitioning to round at the muzzle, blued, known as "Twisted Barrel" following the An IX model, engraved and gilt with a thunderbolt motif of geometric designs and a gilt "A C" punch mark within a beaded circle, with a slight trace of an engraved fleur-de-lis, length 20 cm, length including the breech tail 24.8 cm. The barrels are marked underneath with "MR" and dated 1815. Lockplates following the model of the An XIII cavalry with slight curves at the battery, signed "Maubeuge Manuf Rle", stamped with a crowned "B" of the controller Daniel Bouissavy, 1808-1816. All screws with guilloche decoration. Walnut stocks with long shafts, finely checkered strongly sloping grips, each ending with a straight butt cap topped with a pommel, wood stamped similarly to the lockplate and both numbered 2241. Silver-plated brass fittings, smooth butt caps, trigger guards ending in a fleur-de-lis but not engraved like the King's Bodyguard pistols, pommels in a unified elliptical shape. All fittings are well stamped except for the butt caps, indicating a specific manufacture. Iron ramrods with nail head.
Total length of each pistol 36 cm.

France.
Restoration Period.
Very good condition, the barrels have retained their original color, the fittings have retained 80% of their silver plating, one of the stocks is fractured at the back of the lockplate on both sides of the pistol.

NOTE:
These two pistols form a true pair, they share the same original patina except for one of the two lockplates which has retained its polish. They were brought together by a collector who acquired them in two different sales from famous collections: Sale in Toulouse on 13-04-2011 and the second sale from the Guy Kafmann collection, dispersed by Master de Maigret, expert Bernard Croissy, sale at the Hôtel Drouot on 22-11-2012.
Another pair of pistols identical to these was sold on October 8, 1990 by Masters Couturier-Nicolay. It was accompanied by an officer's saber of the Black Musketeers, all originating from the direct descendants of the officer.
