HELMET AND CUIRASS OF A CUIRASSIER REGIMENT, model 1830, July Monarchy. 30167

Helmet model 1825 modified in 1830.
Iron skull, stamped "L. R.", registered "949", dated 1827.
Brass headband stamped with a flaming bomb framed by laurel and oak branches.
Iron visor and neck guard each bordered by a brass strip folded over the outer edge, visor and neck guard lined with brown waxed leather.
Brass crest composed of a stamped mask topped with a palm leaf surmounted by a relief head of Medusa; two fins struck with a decreasing series of 13 gadroons framed by pearls and drops. Each fin has its lower edge folded outwards cut into scallops, attached to the skull with two brass screws. The mask is attached by a screw.
Brass plume holder composed of an ornamented olive with palm leaves, and a socket with laurel branches and palm leaves; scarlet hair plume.

Interlaced brass chin scales mounted on a leather chin strap; brass rosette stamped with a radiant sun, attached to the skull with a screw.
Black hair mane, in a brush shape ending with a floating tail of an apparent length of about 50 cm.
Scarlet cock feathers plume, height of visible feathers 26 cm, mounted on a metal spring-tipped whalebone. Total height 33 cm. With scarlet woolen cord olive pompon.
Leather inner headband.
Total height of the helmet 33 cm.

Fair condition, the crest mask has been pierced at its top for use by firefighters, the inner headband is period but not original, oxidation on metal parts, one broken but complete leather chin strap.

CUIRASS.
Breastplate made of oil-quenched and blue-tempered cast steel on sand bath. Stamped "1060" scratched off and re-stamped "166". Breastplate forming a busk, with a pronounced dorsal ridge. It is fastened with ten brass rivets holding a steel hook inside for attaching the padded vest. Marked inside "Manufacture de Klingenthal August 1828 no. 2273".
Back plate also fastened with ten rivets and marked by the Royal Manufacture of Klingenthal 1824. It has two black cowhide leather straps, adorned with two brass chains; the body is finished with a brass buttonhole plate with a heart-shaped leather tip; the harness is brass with three rivets.
Black leather belt with brass buckle.

Good condition, usual oxidation, accident to the belt.
