HELMET.
Composed of a skull, a visor, a neck guard, a headband, two chin scales, a crest, a mane made of black horsehair approximately 60 cm long, a tuft adorned with scarlet horsehair, a plume holder, and an interior lining.
All trimmings are gilded copper with a matte and burnished finish.
Skull, embossed in one piece, in silver metal, stamped "de Clerval".
Visor in silver metal inclined at 53 degrees below a horizontal plane passing through the junction of the visor and the skull. Edged with a 5.5 mm wide gilded copper circle placed astride its edges and secured at the ends by a rivet. Underside of the visor lined with green waxed leather. Visor width 5.5 cm.
Neck guard in silver metal composed of: a circular band on its flat side, welded under the posterior edge of the band it extends, featuring three brass nails with half-spherical heads riveted on the inside; a second concave band, forming a groove, with rounded angles and welded on the inside, at the bottom of the first. Like the visor, the neck guard is edged with a gilded copper lining placed astride. It is lined with black waxed leather.
Headband, in gilded copper, stamped with a flaming grenade surrounded by laurel leaves, adheres to the skull. Its base rests on the visor and its ends are riveted to the skull in the part masked by the chin scale rosette. Height of the headband at the front 6.5 cm.
Each chin scale is composed of 10 copper ornament leaves cut out, embossed in relief with laurel leaves, decreasing in width (max width 4.2 cm, min width 2 cm). These scales are fastened with flattened wire staples on a black velvet-lined leather core. At the other end, black varnished calf leather chin strap. Round rosette stamped with laurel leaves and secured to the skull by a screw, rosette diameter 51 cm.
Crest in gilded copper composed of two fins, a mask, and a cover.
The fins, placed vertically 3.2 cm apart at the front and 2.5 cm apart at the back, have a convex curvilinear triangle shape at their upper part, connecting to the skull with a concave base forming a scalloped edge.
This edge is secured to the skull with 4 copper screws with round suet drop heads that are stopped inside the helmet by square copper nuts.
The fins are adorned with palmettes and a rim at their upper edge; the edge is adorned with water leaves, all embossed in relief.
A tin-plated plate connects the upper edges of the fins, fixing their spacing.
The mask serving as the anterior junction of the two fins by means of a weld, embossed with a relief Medusa head. The cover, also embossed, represents the continuation of Medusa's hair with interlaced serpents.
Crest ornament composed of a 2.4 cm high socket, diameter 4.6 cm, embossed with relief water leaves, and a 2.5 cm high, 1.9 cm diameter lens, formed of two embossed shells. Fixed at the front of the crest and supporting a red tuft of horsehair (height 4.6 cm).
Mane of black dyed horsehair, approximately 90 cm long, mounted on a strong nourished cowhide sole, in which the hairs are assembled with tinned brass threads with a piece of sheepskin glued with strong glue at the base; the empty space between the two rows of hairs is filled with a braid that starts from the top and follows the curve of the crest to its junction with the skull.
Plume holder in engraved copper with acanthus leaves, height 3.7 cm, forming a square section sleeve, fixed obliquely.
Interior leather lining cut into eight wolf teeth.

CUIRASS.
Model adopted on March 31, 1855. All brass parts are gilded. Lightweight cuirass in chrome steel. The breastplate and backplate are fastened with six rivets. Each of the two straps has a body in black cowhide leather, adorned with two brass chains; the body is finished with a molded rectangular buttonhole plate of foliage on a sandblasted background with a heart-shaped leather end; the strap holder is in brass with three rivets, the chain plate covers are capped with a lion's muzzle.
