1- Miniature of the Order of Saint-Louis, Knight's Cross Restoration
Maltese Cross with four double-ended enameled rays, center of the branches in gold bordered with white enamel, four amatis and brunis lilies flanked between the branches, oblong centers, obverse presenting Saint Louis crowned in gold armor covered with a blue mantle lined with black ermine holding in his right hand the Crown of Thorns of the Passion and in his left hand a laurel leaf crown, positioned on a green ground, on a red enamel background, and bordered by a royal blue ribbon bearing the legend "LUD. M. INS 1693", for Ludovicus Magnus Instituit 1693 (Louis the Great instituted it in 1693). Reverse presenting a sword in pale between two laurel leaf branches forming a crown and connected by a white ribbon on a red enamel background, bordered by a royal blue ribbon with the legend "BELL. E VIRTUTIS. PRAEM.", for Bellicae virtutis praemium (reward for military virtue), fluted ring.

BIOGRAPHY:
Jean Pierre Antoine Rey, born on September 21, 1767, in Puylaurens, Tarn, and died on January 12, 1842, in the same city, was a French general of the Revolution and the Empire.
[...] From 1805 to 1807, he took part in the campaigns in Austria, Prussia, and Poland. With the 2nd division of the 4th Corps of the Grand Army, he participated in the combat at Memmingen on October 15, 1805, and the Battle of Austerlitz on December 2. He was made a Commander of the Legion of Honor on December 25 of the same year. In 1806, Rey was at Jena on October 14, at the capture of Lübeck on November 7, at Pultusk on December 26, and at the Battle of Eylau on February 8, 1807. He performed admirably on June 10 at the Battle of Heilsberg and the capture of Königsberg. Promoted to Brigadier General on February 18, 1808, and Knight of the Iron Crown on July 10 of the same year, he left for Spain on November 15, 1808, as the commander of the 2nd Brigade of the 4th Corps of the Army tasked with escorting King Joseph from Bayonne to Madrid. He was created a Baron of the Empire on May 28, 1809, before being wounded at the Battle of Talavera on July 28 of the same year.
On July 15, 1810, he killed 400 insurgents and captured Colonel Valdivia who commanded them. On July 31, 1811, he commanded an infantry brigade of the 2nd division of the 4th Corps, and in December 1811, he participated in the siege of Tarifa. He distinguished himself on June 21, 1813, at the Battle of Vitoria as well as on July 28 and 30 at the Battle of Sorauren. On November 10, 1813, following the death of General Conroux, he took command of the division and witnessed the Battle of Orthez on February 27, 1814, and on April 10 at the Battle of Toulouse.
