Round silver medal, depicting on the obverse the effigy of the Emperor wearing a laurel wreath, surrounded by the legend "NAPOLEON III EMPEROR". On the reverse, the inscription "CAMPAIGN OF ITALY - 1859" surrounding the names of the battles "MONTEBELLO, PALESTRO, TURBIGO, MAGENTA, MARIGNAN, SOLFERINO". Surmounted by an imperial crown. Height 2.6 cm, width 4.9 cm.
Silk ribbon alternating 6 vertical red stripes and 5 vertical white stripes, bordered by a white trim. Width 3.5 cm.
