- April 22, 1 and a half pages: "I have the honor to send to Your Excellency a letter from Prince de Benevento (Talleyrand) ... I am attaching General Loverdo's letter, I am giving him the order to bring back the detachments of the 2nd Hussars, 13th and 21st Chasseurs that he sent there without authorization ... I fear that without difficulty Your Excellency can order the return to their Corps of all the battalions & detachments that had been placed under General Loverdo's command, since according to reports ... there are now only parts of the ranks left, as well as the conscripts, who have deserted ...".
- April 24: (1st letter) 1 and a half pages "[...] The order for the cockade was dispatched on the 22nd in the afternoon ... by the 23rd at the latest Mr. Count Reille as well as General Village will have received it, as well as the rest of the Army {...] ".
He then indicates that the boats will only be able to transport provisions from Montauban to St. Sulpice.
- April 24 (2nd letter) 3 pages "[...] The Prefect of the Tarn arrived yesterday in Castres, I had a very long conference with him to solve the problem of the supplies that are necessary for the Army [...] Yesterday I issued an order of the day to prescribe the establishment of hospitals where all scabies sufferers as well as men with minor illnesses should be treated [...] The Generals have been informed that they must stay informed of any movements the enemies may make. According to reports ... the Spaniards would have been sent back by Lord Wellington to the Spanish borders, the Portuguese to the Gers department, and an English division would have left Toulouse for Bordeaux. Count Caffarelli passed through Castres last night, heading to Paris [...]".

*Honoré Théodore Maxime GAZAN, Count de la Peyrière, born on October 29, 1765 in Grasse in Provence and died on April 9, 1845 in the same city, was a French general of the Revolution and the Empire. Chief of the General Staff of Marshal Soult.
[...] At the beginning of the wars of the First Empire, Gazan commanded a division of the Grande Armée. On November 11, 1805, under the command of Marshal Mortier, his men faced the Russians of Kutuzov during the Battle of Dürenstein, during which they lost 40% of their strength. After distinguishing himself during the Prussian and Polish campaign, the general was sent to the Iberian Peninsula where he participated in the capture of Saragossa in 1809 under the command of Marshal Lannes. Gazan then played a key role in several major clashes of the Spanish War, notably in the battles of Albuera in 1811 and Vitoria in 1813.
During the Hundred Days, Gazan, after some hesitation, rallied to the imperial regime but did not receive any operational command. In 1815, he was part of the council that had to judge Marshal Ney accused of high treason, but ruled on incompetence. [...]
**Jean-de-Dieu SOULT, 1st Duke of Dalmatia, born on March 29, 1769 in Saint-Amans-la-Bastide, now Saint-Amans-Soult (Tarn), where he died on November 26, 1851, was a Marshal of the Empire and French statesman.
