Pierre Joseph Perrier is a hunter in the 15th Light Infantry Regiment, 2nd Battalion, 8th Company, stationed at Fort Griffon in Besançon. This letter is addressed to his father, "Citizen Alexis PERRIER residing in Roufret (?) in the municipality of Choux, district of St Claude, Jura Department." Pierre Joseph inquires about his father's well-being and shares insights into garrison life:
"I am writing this letter to inform you about my health, which is very good at present. I hope this letter finds you in the same condition, so you need not worry or be anxious about my situation because, thanks to God, I am doing well. I am with good lads, when I arrived in Besançon, I was pleased to meet acquaintances right away, all fellow conscripts from our area [...]
