"We, the undersigned Captain of the Regiment of Bourbon Infantry, certify that we have engaged the named Marc Canton, also known as DANTHON, to serve six consecutive years as a Soldier in the company of Frêne, under the captaincy of the said Regiment, to whom we have given thirty pounds of engagement and promised his absolute discharge at the end of the said six years, in accordance with the King's Ordinances.
Done at Sommières, on the first of November, 1740.
