MOUNTED OFFICER'S PELISSE OF ALL ARMS AND SERVICES, model 1875, Third Republic. 29948
Pelisse made of fine black cloth, adorned on the chest with five brandenburgs on each side, each made of four strands of square braid in black goat hair, describing parallel and slightly curved lines. Closure is made at the front with Milanese point guimped olives, the brandenburgs ending in double twisted trefoils. At hip level, a pique formed by a soubise braid, interior lined with curly black astrakhan fur, like all those of the tunic, and two straight pockets. Tunic back seams outlined by three soubise braids, embossed in goat hair. Top of the back adorned with a so-called "butterfly" decoration in goat hair soutache. Sleeve with lance-shaped piques edged with soubise braid, interior lined with black wool cloth, without rank soutaches. Collar in a folded Saxon style, entirely lined with curly black astrakhan fur. With its "fourragère" cord.
Lining in quilted black satin Chinese fabric.

Good condition, some wear and rubbing on the braids, one button missing, one button in poor condition, ends of the brandenburgs slightly worn.
NOTE:
The wearing of this pelisse was extended to mounted infantry officers in 1889, then to all infantry officers after 1894.
