Superior Officer's Shabraque of the King's Bodyguards, Restoration period. 29827
Shabraque, or saddlecloth, covered in crimson cloth, with two rows of silver braid with a crest in the design of the bodyguards, one 5.2 cm wide, the other 2.3 cm; each rear angle is rounded and adorned with a silver metal sun, 9 cm in diameter; the girth is lined with tan leather, 28.3 cm wide.
Height of the saddlecloth at the front 52 cm, at the center 36 cm, at the back 60 cm.

Restoration period.
Good condition, wear and tear along the edges of the cloth, stains on the leather of the girth, some tears in the lining.
PROVENANCE:
This saddlecloth belonged to Count de Lur Saluces, a sub-lieutenant in the Luxembourg company. A sub-lieutenant in the bodyguards had an equivalent rank to a major, lieutenant colonel in the regular army.
Sold at the Hôtel Drouot on May 25, 2005, by Master Thierry de Maigret, expert Bernard Croissy, lot n° 226 of the catalog.
