MOURNING SWORD FOR CIVILIAN OR MILITARY USE, reign of Louis XV, Ancient Monarchy, circa 1750-1767. Inventory number 29283.
Iron hilt without decoration. Crossguard with small rings. Handle made of finely grooved ebony wood with sculpted ferrules. Oval pommel (foreshadowing the 1767 model). Double-shell guard bordered by a line. Triangular blade engraved with military trophies, floral motifs, signed at the base "Dumont Marchd Fourbiss Pont Michel à la Justice à Paris", measuring 89 cm.

Very good condition, light oxidation on the blade, no scabbard.
