SERVICE LETTER:
"Napoleon, by the grace of God and the Constitutions of the Empire, Emperor of the French, having to appoint a Brigadier General to be employed in this capacity in the 18th Infantry Division which is part of the 6th Observation Corps commanded by Lieutenant General Lecourbe, has chosen General Martel.
It is therefore ordered to the General Officers, Staff Officers, those of the Artillery [...] to recognize him and have him recognized in said capacity by those under their command.
Done in Paris, April 29, 1815."
