Blackened and varnished leather case, smooth brass sides, black waxed leather strap edged with a brass frame featuring the insignia of the Medical Service, depicting the caduceus of physicians with the serpent of Asclepius coiled around a rod, symbol of the tree of life, topped with the mirror of Prudence and surrounded by a branch of oak and laurel leaves. Height 12.5 cm, width 17.5 cm, thickness 5 cm.
Varnished and blackened leather strap lined with black velvet, gilt brass fittings, relief-stamped lion's head holding a triple chain in its mouth connected to a shield bordered with a twisted molding with the Medical Service insignia at its center.
