OFFICER'S CROSS OF THE LEGION OF HONOR, 1871-1946, Third Republic. 28007

Star with five double white enameled rays with buttoned tips in gilded metal. Surrounded by a vegetal crown formed by a branch of oak and laurel leaves bound between the lower points, enhanced with translucent green enamel. Center in two parts, obverse side depicting the Republic's effigy with her head turned to the left on a sandblasted background, bordered by a deep blue enameled legend "RÉPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE - 1870". Reverse side featuring two crossed enameled French tricolor flags, bordered by a blue ribbon with the motto "HONNEUR ET PATRIE".
