COMMANDER'S DECORATION OF THE LEGION OF HONOR, jeweler model in vermeil, 1871-1946, Third Republic. 28003

An exceptionally high-quality jeweler model in vermeil. Star with five double white enameled rays with buttoned tips in gilded metal, diameter 61.8 mm. Surrounded by a vegetal crown formed by a branch of oak and laurel leaves bound between the lower points, enhanced with translucent green enamel, H 33.7 mm, width 34 mm. Center in two parts, obverse side with the effigy of the Republic with head turned to the left on a gritty background, bordered by a deep blue enameled band with the legend "RÉPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE - 1870". Reverse side with two crossed enameled French tricolor flags, bordered by a blue band with the motto "HONNEUR ET PATRIE".
Bail made of a crown of two branches of oak and laurel leaves, connected by links. Jewelry and bail are hallmarked.
Scarlet ribbon.
