Maltese cross with four double-pointed rays with unbuttoned enamel tips, centers of the branches in gold bordered with white enamel, four amethyst and brown lilies flanked between the branches, oblong centers, obverse presenting at the bottom a crowned and gold-armored Saint Louis covered with a blue mantle lined with black ermine, holding in his right hand the Crown of Thorns of the Passion and in his left hand a crown of laurel leaves, standing on a green ground, on a red enamel background, and bordered by a royal blue listel bearing the legend "LUD. M. INS 1693", for Ludovicus Magnus Instituit 1693 (Louis the Great instituted it in 1693). Reverse presenting a sword in pale between two laurel leaf branches forming a crown and connected by a white ribbon on a red enamel background, bordered by a royal blue listel with the legend "BELL. E VIRTUTIS. PRAEM.", for Bellicae virtutis praemium (reward for military virtue), grooved ring. Height 4.5 cm, width 3.5 cm. Original ribbon that is not its own. France. Restoration period. Very good condition, with minimal losses to the white enamel.
