BOX CONTAINING TWO COMMEMORATIVE MEDALS OF THE DUKE AND DUCHESS OF ANGOULÊME AND THE DAUPHINE, Restoration. 29837
Wooden box covered in gilt green morocco leather with gold tooling on the lid bearing the inscription "The Electoral College of the Department of Gironde To H.R.H. MONSEIGNEUR DUKE OF ANGOULÊME". All angles and edges are gilt with foliate and geometric decoration.
The bronze medal, 4 cm in diameter, 4 mm thick, features a relief profile of the duchess and on the obverse bears the inscription "MARIE THÉRÈSE CH. DUCHESS OF ANGOULÊME", and on the reverse "FILIAL PIETY, CHARITY, COURAGE, LOVE FOR ALL FRENCHMEN", all framed with rose branches.
The silver medal, 4 cm in diameter, 4 mm thick, features a relief profile of the duke, signed "Andrieu F" and the inscription "LOUIS ANTOINE DUKE OF ANGOULÊME" on the obverse, and on the reverse "H.R.H. PRESIDES OVER THE ELECTORAL COLLEGE OF GIRONDE / ANDRIEU DE BORDEAUX FECIT. MDCCCXV VOTED BY THE E.C.".
Inside the box, there is a lock of hair in a handwritten paper: "Hair of the Dauphine 1823".
