BIOGRAPHY:
GEORGES FOUILLÉ, Jean, Clément. Born in 1909 in Paris, died in 1994 in Leucate.
Appointed official Marine painter in 1947.
Originally destined for the navy, his health forced him to renounce it. Georges Fouillé then turned to maritime painting, appointed as official Marine painter, he embarked on the Richelieu in 1949.
Fouillé sought to combine art with historical research. Georges Fouillé brought a historian's precision to his work.
Mr. Fouillé also created lead soldier figurines as well as dioramas and models.
