GEORGES FOUILLÉ, Jean, Clément. Born in 1909 in Paris, Died in 1994 in Leucate.
Appointed official painter of the Navy in 1947.
Originally destined for the Navy, his health forced him to give it up. Georges Fouillé then turned to maritime painting, appointed as the official painter of the Navy, he embarked on the Richelieu in 1949.
Fouillé aimed to combine art with historical research. Georges Fouillé brought a historian's precision to his work.
Mr. Fouillé also created lead soldier figurines as well as dioramas and models.
