Rectangular shaped plate, made of cast bronze entirely chiseled, gold-plated. The background of the plate is entirely hammered; in its center are depicted in relief the arms of Louis Joseph, Duke of Bourbon, Prince of Condé, Peer of France, and former Colonel General of the French Infantry: azure three fleurs-de-lis or and a bend sinister gules charged with a baton sinister bendwise, beneath a crown of the Princes of the Blood; these arms are surrounded by the attributes of Knight of the Orders of the King including a collar, and the Grand Cross of the Order of Saint-Louis (between 1589 and 1823, the arms of the Princes of Condé are those of the Dukes of Bourbon which became unused once Henry IV became King of France. The Princes of Condé then adopted them simplifying the bend into a bend sinister).

Bordeaux leather belt adorned with a wide gold braid with five scarlet silk piping. Complete with its two sword suspension straps. Width 7.2 cm.

Very good condition.
PROVENANCE:
Former collection of Jean-Louis NOISIEZ
NOTE:
Louis-Joseph de Bourbon played a significant role during the emigration; he was the leader of the Army of Condé and the grandfather of the Duke of Enghien.
Plates with the arms of the Princes are extremely rare, countless reproductions were made in the 20th century to satisfy collectors, and among these models, those with the arms of Condé remain the most difficult to find.
