Gold-plated brass hilt, guard with two branches forming a shell decorated with foliage and a marine anchor. Cap with a long tail, handle made of black horn. Curved blade with hollow grooves, 68 cm long, back signed "Manufre de la Houssière J. Fensch." Scarlet cloth knot. Black varnished leather scabbard with three gold-plated fittings, decorated chape with applied marine anchor, central fitting and drag decorated with foliage and scrolls, with a belt loop button in the shape of a scallop shell.

Very good condition, the metal parts have retained their gilding, small chips on the scabbard with a crease mark at the lower part.
NOTE:
Before 1870, the "Manufacture de La Houssière Frensch Frères", located in Klingenthal in the Bas-Rhin region, produced bladed weapons. In 1878, the refounded Fensch Frères et Cie became a company specializing in pitchforks and American garden tools (harrow, rakes, scythes, etc.).
