OFFICER'S SWORD OF THE INFANTRY OF THE IMPERIAL GUARD, model 1860, Second Empire. 29599R
Gilt-bronze hilt. Guard decorated with an N under an imperial crown placed on a radiant background with a gleaming Jupiter spindle. Keyboard forming a molded relief plate of the Grand Imperial Arms, quillon decorated with a palmette, rear keyboard bearing the relief inscription "IMPERIAL GUARD" placed on a branch of oak and laurel, folding keyboard. Pommeau decorated with the imperial eagle with outspread wings. Horn handle, brass wire filigree. Strong white triangular blade, engraved at the heel "Mre Impale de Châtt / o de la garde / mle 1860", length 80 cm. Scarlet cloth tie. Black varnished leather scabbard with two brass fittings decorated with lines.
Senior officer's sword knot, black silk cord, gold thread tassel with large twisted fringes known as "cordes à puits"
