OFFICER'S AIDE-DE-CAMP SWORD PRESENTED IN A CASE, Second Empire - Third Republic. 29530R
Gilt bronze hilt. Keyboard decorated with an antique-style helmet with a sword placed on a crown of oak and laurel branches, against a background of a bundle of flags. Folding counter-keyboard. Pommel decorated on each side with a winged Jupiter spindle. Horn handle with filigree brass. Double-edged blade with central ridge measuring 78 cm in length, signed at the heel "A Chassepot ENTREPeur a Châtellerault." Scarlet cloth knot. High-quality scabbard in black varnished leather with two gilt brass fittings, and an ordinary service scabbard in nickel-plated steel.
The set is presented in a wooden case covered in black morocco leather, interior lined in burgundy velvet, closing with two pivot locks in maillechort, with a handle of the same metal engraved with the initials "F M." Case length 107.5 cm, width 18 cm, height 8.5 cm.

Sword in near-new condition despite an accident and a 2 cm filigree loss. Case in very good condition with some rubbing on the lid.
