CUIRASS OF THE IMPERIAL GUARD CUIRASSIERS, model 1854, Second Empire. 29585R
Steel cuirass consisting of a backplate and a breastplate. The breastplate is marked on the outer edge with "200", bordered by 21 brass nails and has an unreadable interior marking; it features an aiguillette hook at the top and a hook for holding the cartridge box band. Marked on the outer edge with "1218". Interior marking reads "Manufre de Klingenthal Coulaux & Cie August 1856" "1T 2L No.1148".
The backplate is marked on the outer edge with "1218", bordered by 39 brass nails, topped with two leather straps covered with a chainmail in an intertwined figure-8 pattern in brass with a steel lock finished with leather straps, and at the bottom a black varnished leather belt, model 1862. Interior marking is identical to the breastplate "Manufre de Klingenthal Coulaux & Cie August 1856" "3T 1L No.1148".
