Helmet entirely made of brass. Headband stamped with a flaming bomb framed by laurel and oak branches. Visor and neck guard each edged with a brass strip folded over the outer edge. Brass stamped crest, composed of a mask topped with a palmette and a relief head of Medusa; two fins bearing a decreasing row of 13 bosses framed by pearls and drops. Each fin is attached to the bomb by 2 steel screws. Mask pierced and partially blocked in the central part. Brass cover plate for the crest. Aigrette holder (referred to as "crest ornament" from 1844) in brass composed of a decorated lens with palmettes, a socket with laurel branches and palmettes, and a plume of black horsehair. Plume holder in brass, tubular in shape with a slightly tapering square section towards the bottom. Brass chin scales, interlaced chain chinstraps mounted on leather; brass rosette embossed with a radiant sun, attached to the bomb with a steel screw. Black horsehair mane, resembling a floating tail with an apparent length of about 50 cm. Inner leather liner with eleven wolf teeth.
