PEAKED CAP
Made of light green cloth, scarlet piping, scarlet wool braided cord, embroidered scarlet wool badge in the shape of a grenade.
Body of the cap in dark green cloth with scarlet wool cord piping, piping highlighting the rank braid in scarlet wool. These pipings merge on the right side to form a point, the tip of which reaches the bottom of the cap.
Two elliptical side flaps made of light green cloth bordered on their convex development by a scarlet braid (width 2.8 cm); these two elliptical pieces are sewn to the body of the cap.
On the front, in the curvilinear angle formed by the recess of the two flaps, an embroidered dazzling grenade in scarlet wool is sewn (H 5 cm, width 2.7 cm). At the anterior angle of the top of the cap, a scarlet wool pompom with soft tassels and fringes known as "cordon à puits" is attached.
Interior headpiece in black waxed calf leather with a regiment number tab "1143", complete with its leather chin strap.
Fair condition, some wear on the braid, moth holes in the cloth.
"KURTKA" COAT
Kurtka in light green cloth buttoning straight at the front with seven black horn buttons, scarlet piping, stand-up collar in scarlet cloth edged with light green piping, pointed trimmings in light green cloth piped scarlet, adorned with two small brass uniform buttons, 1.7 cm in diameter, embossed with an eagle and the inscription "IMPERIAL GUARD." Rear with a belt loop in light green cloth piped scarlet with a small button. Turn-backs in light green cloth piped scarlet and garnished in each corner with an embroidered grenade in scarlet wool on light green background, false vertical pockets forming three points, scarlet piping and garnished in each point with a large module uniform button, 2.2 cm in diameter. Two large uniform buttons are fastened at the waist level. Shoulder straps in white braided wool on light green cloth. Chest piece in white cloth for formal dress lined with light green cloth on which a piece of white fabric with the number "1143" is sewn. This chest piece is attached on either side of the kurtka using seven small brass uniform buttons and four hooks at the top.
Interior lining in ecru canvas with regiment seal consisting of a crown followed by the inscription "DRAG" (for the Dragons of the Imperial Guard), numbered "1143." Waist belt in ochre leather.
Fair condition, repairs and moth holes in the cloth of the coat and chest piece.
PAIR OF EPAULETTES
Shoulder straps in white wool, lining in light green cloth, regiment number under each shoulder strap "1143" in red ink. Small brass uniform buttons of the Second Empire Imperial Guard model.
Good condition, yellowing of the white wool.
AIGUILLETTES
White wool aiguillettes with white metal aglets, tab in light green cloth marked in red ink "1143."

BIOGRAPHY:
Benoit MEY is the first bearer of the regiment number "1143" in the Dragons of the Guard regiment, he receives number "110" after the reset of the numbering.
Benoit MEY was born on October 28, 1832, in Reutenbourg, Bas-Rhin department, Marmoutier canton, son of Joseph and Madeleine Hatron. Profession: ploughman, height 1m71, oval face, round forehead, blue eyes, short and upturned nose, medium mouth, dimpled chin, blond hair and eyebrows. Enlisted on July 17, 1856, in the regiment as a dragoon, coming from the 7th regiment, he joined the corps on August 9, 1856. On August 20, 1859, he signed a three-year commitment starting on January 1, 1860, and on December 21, 1862, he signed another three-year commitment starting on January 1, 1863. Previously, he was enlisted on February 9, 1854, in the 8th Light Infantry, then on April 7, 1854, in the 7th Dragons regiment. Promoted from 2nd class dragoon to 1st class, he became a trumpeter on January 1, 1862.
He was discharged on December 31, 1865, in Compiègne.
He participated in the Eastern Expedition from June 15, 1855, to May 25, 1856, where he received the medal from Her Majesty the Queen of England.
He took part in the Italian campaign from May 17, 1859, to August 25, 1859, where he received the Italian campaign medal.
